ABOUT MORENG TELECOM
The roots of Moreng Telecom Products can be traced back to 1902 when Joseph Moreng Iron Works was founded in New York City. The founder, Joseph H. Moreng was a Swiss ornamental ironworker and blacksmith. He started fabricating iron works for the local Western Electric (now Lucent Technologies) installers in 1912.

In the early 1930’s his sons, Joseph H. (a graduate engineer) and George (a graduate architect) joined the business. With fresh and innovative ideas, Moreng Iron Works was awarded contracts and orders to manufacture telecom hardware for New Jersey Bell, New York Telephone, and Western Electric. Joseph and George were also contracted to design and produce special items for these same customers. It was during this period that the plant was relocated to Ridgefield, NJ, and the sheet metal department was added.

In the mid 60’s Joseph’s grandsons, Joseph H. Moreng Jr. and James R. Moreng (both graduate engineers) joined the company. They also brought new ideas and methods to allow the business to expand and diversify. Precision sheet metal fabricating machinery and finishing equipment was added. Designing and manufacturing of products to meet special needs remained an important service to all customers. In 1985 the plant was relocated to a new 45,000 sq. foot building in Totowa, NJ. At the same time the name of the company was changed to Moreng Metal Products, Inc., which better reflected the nature of the business. During this period everything from microwave towers to terminal lugs was manufactured for the Bell companies. In 1985, after the break up of AT & T, Moreng Metal Products began designing and marketing our own line of telephone hardware. In the early 90’s, its sales effort was increased and focused toward the expanding telecommunications industry.

In 1997, management decided that in order to better serve all customers of Moreng Metal Products, a new company had to be formed. That company, Moreng Telecom Products, LLC., would specialize in the design, fabrication, and sale of items specifically for the telecommunications industry. After two years in operation, Moreng Telecom moved into a separate location in Totowa, NJ. Our commitment to quality was awarded on June 14, 2001, when Moreng met the latest ISO 9001: 2001 registration standards. This accomplishment involved all of our employees and our partner/registrar, Underwriters Laboratories Inc. This quality system registration is now included in UL’s Directory of Registered Firms. Moreng Telecom Products has historically placed the highest priority on quality review and customer satisfaction and that tradition continues with the next generation (Joseph C., Kim, and John) influencing the direction of the company toward higher productivity and customer satisfaction through continuous quality improvement in all areas. Moreng Telecom Products will continue to meet our customer’s short lead times with competitive pricing.
